#2 Law Firm Ready Newsletter, Beyond Textbooks: Law, Art, Opportunities, and a Few Good Laughs
Greetings from Team LFR
Hello our members, the LFR newsletter is back! Last week we were wondering what were the meaning of the terms such as Pookie or Skibidi to catch up with the genz audience. But we thought we will catchup with you through this newsletter and also ensure you also catchup with what is going on with LFR.
Grab your Parle-G cause we got you tea!
1. Batch XIV going strong!
Batch XIV has now crossed the “Wow, these applications are brilliant!”, “I got ghosted by an applicant for their interview today”, and the “Yay, the shortlisted applicants look promising” phases!
With strong participation, the Batch was kickstarted with an induction program and the momentum hasn’t slowed through our CV and cover letter drafting session!
Our speaker, Aditya Rajgopal, an LLM candidate of Cambridge University enlightened the students and our moderator/founder Rohit Sharma asked all the right questions! Overall, another successful session in the bag guys!
2. A 100% positive feedback and we are not exaggerating!
LawSchoolReady’s Outreach Program began with a webinar on “CV and cover letter drafting” with the second year students of School of Excellence in Law, Chennai. Our founder, Mr. Rohit Sharma, kickstarted the collaboration project by being the keynote speaker. He is too humble, so we will tell you how raving the feedback was:
98% of the students found the session helpful
100% of the students found the speaker informative
Some of our favourite feedback that the University forwarded us are:
Divya Bharathi S: "The way he approached the students like free to ask questions and clarifying the doubts with full calm and patience ...I liked it a lot.".
M. Aishwarya: "The session was very interactive and the Speaker also very friendly in sharing information. It helps me to ask doubts and helps to learn a lot".
If you have FOMO now, don’t worry, we still have a few slots left for booking!
Hurry up and fill this form: https://forms.gle/ZnZJBJTAM8WhuQfQ9 (+10000 aura for helping your classmates out!)

Watch Mamla Legal Hai on Netflix: stop rewatching SUITS and watch this short series that will have you laughing the whole time!
Read “Legal Eagles: Stories of the Top Seven Indian Lawyers” by Indu Bhan
Do a quick reading of https://www.lawctopus.com/8-things-oxford-taught-lessons-will-apply-everywhere/ that consists of tips that help every law student, irrespective of what year you are in and what your experience is.
Play board game (If you can’t decide on anything, go old school with scrabble)
Walk in a park, beach or a place distant from the roads and hustle
Documentary suggestion (even if documentaries are not your cup of tea): Moving Upstream: Ganga | Full Movie | A 3000 km walk along the river - गंगासागर से गंगोत्री
Do you know this substack was inspired by the work of one of our non lawyer supporters? His name is Siddharth and he runs the Veditum foundation. Siddharth walked 3000kms along Ganga to witness how river ecosystems work in India and come on yaar, the least you can do is watch this really interesting documentary!
6. We can be funny too!
Acha, tell me: What’s a lawyer’s favourite ice cream flavour?
………
Its Law-tus biscoff
(stop scoffing at his pun, okay? If you think you can do a better one, keep scrolling because we have some exciting news for you!)
Oh, I have got another one!
I was waiting for the lift when I heard a spat, I obviously tuned into the free entertainment and I heard the guy say “I need some space!”.
I swear to god, the girl told with an absolute poker face “Space is the common heritage of mankind. I can’t give it to you!.”
I am not saying she’s right, but she sure is funny!
7. Best of legal fraternity last week
I remember watching “Suits” as a 1st year law student (a rite of passage). There was an episode in Season 1 which I watched with my amma (mother) who, absentmindedly remarked at the Mike-Harvey dynamic, “If you accept a mentor, you need to trust them fully. They’ll either guide you or teach you in ways you won’t understand then but faith should always be in full.”
When I came across this article by Mr. Protik Prokash Banerji, an advocate at Kolkata HC (read from: https://www.lawctopus.com/what-i-have-learnt-from-each-of-my-juniors-by-protik-da/), I was reminded of this dialogue by Amma had told. When juniors and seniors want to help each other, they always do and miracles happen.
See this as your sign to trust your mentor and take guidance without thinking too much about the consequences. If it works, it works! If it fails, that’s a lesson too!
Stay Tuned!
